Announcement: Changes to the TikTok Integration (8/13/24)

LiveRamp and TikTok have updated LiveRamp’s integration with TikTok to make improvements to the issues with audience delivery you’ve experienced over the last several weeks. These issues were the result of a combined effort between LiveRamp and TikTok to establish a more secure solution for data sharing.

Some customers may continue to see lower audience sizes depending on the data they pass to TikTok (suggestions to address potentially smaller TikTok audience sizes can be found below).

As a result, segments using the following input identifiers are the only ones that can be activated to TikTok:

  • Plaintext emails

  • SHA256-hashed emails

  • Plaintext phone numbers

  • Derived RampIDs

To maximize the TikTok integration, we recommend that you include Email + Phone in files containing data you want to activate to TikTok. You can also reach out to your TikTok representative to see what other strategies you could employ. Some suggested mitigation strategies provided by TikTok include:

  • Turning on Custom Audience Enhancement

  • Turning on Smart Targeting

Any current TikTok distributions of segments that do not meet these guidelines (segments based on online input identifiers or where the offline input identifiers don’t include the allowed identifiers listed above) have been deactivated. These segments will no longer be delivered to TikTok or refreshed.  

Note

If data was previously delivered to TikTok for these segments, it will persist in TikTok’s systems for 365 days after the delivery date.
