Announcement: New Data Compliance Laws Taking Effect in January 2025 (12/23/24)

We want to inform you about important upcoming changes to data privacy laws in Iowa, Delaware, Nebraska, and New Hampshire, effective January 1, 2025, and New Jersey, effective January 15, 2025. These laws introduce new requirements for handling personal and sensitive data.

  • On January 1, 2025, Iowa’s Consumer Data Protection (ICDPA), Delaware’s Personal Data Privacy Act (DPDPA), Nebraska’s Data Privacy Act (NDPA), and New Hampshire’s Data Privacy Act (NHDPA) will become effective.

  • On January 15, 2025, New Jersey’s Data Privacy Law (NJDPL) will become effective.

Data sellers must remove any sensitive data covered by ICDPA, DPDPA, NDPA, and NHDPA from the Data Marketplace by January 1, 2025 and remove any sensitive data covered by NJDPL by January 15, 2025.

As a reminder, LiveRamp's Data Marketplace Data Policy prohibits the upload of data defined by any state law as “sensitive” in the Data Marketplace, but it is the responsibility of the data sellers to determine what meets this definition and comply with all privacy laws by their effective dates.  If LiveRamp becomes aware of any segments that do not comply with the new laws, LiveRamp will remove those segments from the Data Marketplace and notify the seller of their non-compliance with contractual obligations.

Review your data handling practices to ensure compliance with these new regulations. If you have any questions, contact your LiveRamp customer support representative.
