Announcing Mobile Device IDs Temporarily Removed from Twitter Distributions (3/26/21)

Starting April 1, 2021, mobile device IDs (both IDFAs and AAIDs) will be temporarily removed from Twitter distributions. LiveRamp and Twitter product teams are actively working through the final details of a new solution, which will allow for re-enabling of mobile device IDs in the near future. This temporary change does not affect the distribution of Twitter User IDs (Platform IDs).

Note

Update 9/2/21: Starting August 27, 2021, mobile device IDs (IDFAs and AAIDs) have been re-enabled for Twitter distributions. You will now see device reach estimates for mobile device IDs included in the CID reach estimates on the Segment Distribution page within Connect for Twitter destination accounts. You will not see a breakout for mobile device IDs (IDFA, AAID) but you will see an uptick in scale across CID distributions. These changes will all take place on LiveRamp’s end and no action is required from you.

Note

For previous distributions that included mobile device IDs, those identifiers will continue to persist in Twitter’s platform, but will not be refreshed until mobile device IDs are re-enabled.

When activating a new Twitter destination account, the “IDFA” and “AAID” identifier options will not appear in the Identifier Settings area. The only identifier option will be “Platform ID”.

Our new solution will not only re-enable mobile device IDs but also provide a more accurate matching methodology. We'll notify you once the new solution becomes available.
