Creating Universes

Contact your LiveRamp representative to create universes and to discuss the parameters you’d like to use for your universes. Available parameters include:

  • An audience threshold: Any audience that includes this universe must include at least this many audience members from that universe.

  • Segment thresholds: Any segment in an audience that includes this universe must include at least this many audience members from that universe.

  • Whether to allow households: Allows LiveRamp to convert the IDs in the universe to a household RampID so that you can enable the computing of unique household counts across multiple universes within an audience.

Note

If you permission a universe to a partner, you have the chance to set different universe parameters for that permission.

Your universes should appear in Advanced TV within 24 hours.

Note

Don't need more than one universe? If creating more than one universe is not necessary for your situation, you do not need to create additional universes. All your subscriber or viewers will be contained in your default universe.

After your initial universes have been created, you can add additional universes or revise existing universes by contacting your LiveRamp representative.

You can also have your LiveRamp representative create a "grouped" universe in your account, by combining two or more existing universes you own (or universes that have been permissioned to you with the "grouping" option enabled).

See “Build an Audience" for details on how you use universes when building an audience.

Thresholds

When building an audience, the audience threshold for a particular universe determines the minimum number of subscriber or viewer households from that universe that need to be part of the audience before it can be saved or distributed.

The segment threshold for a particular universe determines the minimum number of subscriber or viewer households from that universe that need to be part of any segment in the audience that use's that universe's data.

Note

Thresholds are usually set to ensure campaign performance and privacy compliance.

When a TV seller (such as an MVPD or network) permissions a universe to a partner, they can choose to use their default audience and segment thresholds for that universe or they can set custom thresholds.
