Feature Release - Universe Thresholds
We’ve added a “threshold” feature so that you can specify a minimum size for audiences that are created from a particular universe within Connect:Select. This can help prevent distributions that are too small.
When building an audience, you cannot save the audience if it does not include enough subscribers or viewers to meet the specified threshold for that universe. Adjustments would need to be made until the audience count meets the specified threshold.
Caution
What about existing audiences? Any previously created audiences that don’t meet the threshold cannot be distributed.
A threshold can be implemented either as a minimum number of subscribers or viewers, or as a minimum percentage of the total universe size. The smallest threshold that can be implemented is 1% (or the equivalent subscriber or viewer count) of the total universe size.
Contact your LiveRamp representative if you’d like to implement a threshold for any of your universes.
Note
Can the base universe have a threshold? A threshold cannot be specified for your base universe (the default universe that contains all your subscribers or viewers).
How Refreshes Affect Thresholds
If the universe size changes due to a refresh, the threshold percentage is preserved (even if the threshold was initially implemented as a number).
For example, if a particular universe initially contains 5M subscribers and the threshold is set to 10%, this results in a threshold of 500,000 subscribers. If the file is later refreshed and now has 5.5M subscribers, the threshold will still be 10%, resulting in a threshold of 550,000 subscribers.
However, if the threshold for the same initial 5M subscriber universe is set to 400,000 subscribers (8%) and the refreshed file has 5.5M subscribers, the threshold will still be 8%, resulting in a threshold of 440,000 subscribers.
