Announcement: LiveRamp Introduces Pre-Screening of Segments for TTD Validation (2/19/2026)
Starting February 19, 2026, LiveRamp will begin sending email notifications to sellers with the pre-screening results for segments uploaded to the Data Marketplace and intended for activation on The Trade Desk (TTD). This enhancement is to streamline activation of segments from LiveRamp Data Marketplace on TTD, by:
Reducing downstream TTD rejections by identifying and addressing likely policy issues earlier in the process.
Improving delivery predictability by clarifying which segments are eligible for activation on TTD.
Enabling sellers to review and adjust segment names and descriptions to prepare for compliance with TTD’s policies.
Note
Platform compliance pre-screening only applies to segments enabled for activation to TTD.
Segments remain available for distribution to TTD and other destinations during pre-screening.
LiveRamp will evaluate the results of this pre-screen notification process and will provide sellers with at least two weeks' notice before any updates or changes are implemented.
Overview of Pre-Screening Process
The following is an overview of the pre-screening process. Segments remain available for distribution to TTD and other destinations during the pre-screening review. Note the following:
Only “at-risk” segments are pre-screened. Segments are evaluated using LiveRamp’s internal systems and flagged when they may fall into sensitive or at-risk categories as defined in TTD’s sensitive categories policy.
Not every segment is affected. Segments that are not flagged as sensitive or at-risk will proceed to TTD as they do today.
Pre-screening is only for notification. Pre-screening happens before distribution to TTD for activation. Segments are reviewed at the time of creation or update. They undergo an internal LiveRamp check followed by a TTD compliance review, which typically takes 2–24 hours.
The pre-screening process has the following two steps:
LiveRamp Internal Pre-Screen:
LiveRamp uses internal checks to flag segments that may fall into sensitive or at-risk categories based on TTD’s policy.
LiveRamp excludes Healthcare-related segments from the pre-screening process since TTD allows certain providers to send health data without being rejected if they provide a health data attestation.
Only segments flagged as sensitive or at-risk in the LiveRamp internal pre-screen are sent to TTD’s compliance pre-screen. In these cases, LiveRamp sends the segment metadata to the platform for review. TTD is ultimately responsible for determining which segments are rejected.
TTD Compliance Pre-Screen and Seller Notification:
Note
TTD does not notify data sellers or buyers directly. LiveRamp provides all status updates and guidance.
While under TTD compliance review (typically 2–24 hours), segments remain available for distribution to TTD and other destinations.
Sellers with segments under TTD compliance review will receive a daily summary email from LiveRamp with the segments' TTD compliance pre-screen status and instructions for next steps. The pre-screen statuses are:
Pending: Segments are still under review.
Approved: Segments are approved for TTD distribution.
Rejected: This status does not impact distribution of any segments to TTD. It indicates that the segment may be considered non-compliant by TTD. If TTD rejects it, it will require revisions before resubmission.
For more information, see “Pre-Screening of Segments for Platform Validation”.
Daily Pre-Screen and Activation Status Email
Data Sellers
Note
A daily summary email is only sent to sellers if there has been activity for their segments on that day.
Data sellers whose segments are undergoing TTD compliance pre-screen review will receive a daily summary email detailing the pre-screen results and next steps. Depending on the review outcome, the email will include one or both of the following attachments:
TTD Pre-Screen Summary: A CSV attachment listing pre-screen review results for relevant segments (Pending, Approved, or Rejected).
TTD Activation Rejections: A CSV attachment listing segments rejected during actual TTD activation.
For more information, see the “Daily Pre-Screen and Activation Status Emails for Data Sellers” section of “Pre-Screening of Segments for Platform Validation”.
Data Buyers
Note
A daily summary email is only sent to buyers if any segments they distributed to TTD were rejected during actual TTD activation that day.
Data buyers distributing segments to TTD that have been rejected during actual TTD activation will receive an email with a link to the rejected segments listing Data Seller, Segment ID, Segment Name, and Segment Description. Segments rejected during TTD activation were not delivered to a buyer’s campaigns on TTD. For these segments, buyers should work with the data seller to resolve the issue.
For more information, see the “Daily Activation Status Emails for Data Buyers” section of “Pre-Screening of Segments for Platform Validation”.
