Announcing Improved Advertiser Management For Data Sellers (1/12/21)

We’ve released improvements to our advertiser access management feature for data sellers in the Data Marketplace.

The process allows you to more comprehensively deny advertisers access to segments in the Data Marketplace from within the data seller UI in Connect.

Note

Previously, it was up to the blocked advertisers to honor the segment restrictions displayed within the Connect UI. This update will not retroactively apply the restrictions to any segments that have been previously distributed by blocked advertisers in violation of those restrictions.

You can now find the exact name to use to block an advertiser in the Data Marketplace reference sheet, which includes all of the Forbes 2000 companies and any advertiser that has been ever blocked by a data seller (see “Download the Data Marketplace Reference Sheet” for download instructions).

Note

If the advertiser you want to block doesn't appear on the reference sheet, you can contact us to have the advertiser added to the reference sheet. See “Blocking Advertisers from Data Marketplace Segments” for complete instructions.

To block an advertiser from your existing Data Marketplace segments, or to block an advertiser from a group of segments, enter the appropriate advertiser name from the reference sheet in the “Blocked Advertisers” column of the segment metadata file (formerly known as a “Data Marketplace taxonomy file”).

Note

Any advertisers that you have previously blocked will continue to be blocked, as that information will be migrated and mapped to the new process. However, you might notice that the advertiser name has been adjusted.

If you want to globally block an advertiser from accessing any of your segments in the Data Marketplace for any new segments, you can have them added to the global "Blocked Advertisers" list (which appears on the Contract tab of the Data Marketplace Settings page) by creating a case in the LiveRamp Community portal. Once an advertiser is added to your global blocklist, that advertiser name will appear in the “Blocked Advertiser” column in your segment metadata file for new segments.

Note

To view a list of the advertisers you are currently blocking, navigate to the Data Marketplace Contract page.

See “Blocking Advertisers from Data Marketplace Segments” for detailed instructions on all of the methods you can use to block advertisers.

Warning

If you downloaded a segment metadata file before this release on January 12, 2021, upload a new segment data file, as the file has changed slightly (the "Permitted Advertisers" column has been removed). If you attempt to upload the previous version, the upload will fail.
