Connect Your Data

You can connect your data, infrastructure, and code at the source by creating a data connection. Each data connection generates an associated dataset in LiveRamp Clean Room that you can then provision to clean rooms and assign to the questions that use those datasets.

Prepare Your Data for Collaboration

To use your data in clean room collaborations with partners, we recommend you format your data as close to the recommended schemas for your use cases as possible before connecting your data. This includes making sure you include all key fields with the correct field type and (in some cases) the correct data format (such as the appropriate timestamp format, for example).

While not all fields might be required for your current workflows and collaborations, we recommend you include as many of these additional fields now (with the specified field type) to make it easier for you to expand your collaborations in the future without you (or your IT team) having to perform additional work on your datasets.

For more information on general file formatting guidelines, see "Format Your Clean Room Data".

Note

  • If it's not practical to prepare your data to match the fields and field types listed in these schemas, you can connect your data and then create a view of those datasets to match the schema requirements. For more information, see "Create a Dataset from a View of Data Connections".

  • In some cases, you can perform transformations on a dataset when you provision it to a clean room, such as creating a new field to hold needed placeholder values or transforming a timestamp field to a different format. For more information, see "Perform Dataset Transformations".

  • If you’re utilizing LiveRamp Embedded Identity in your cloud environment, the formatting guidelines are somewhat different. For more information, see “Embedded Identity in Cloud Environments” in our Identity docs site.

Connect to Cloud-Based Data

Data connections can be configured to any cloud-based storage location, including AWS, GCS, Azure Blob, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, and Databricks. Connections are source- and type-specific, meaning the exact configuration will depend on the source storage location and the exact data types and structures present. Select your source and preferred configuration type to see specific configuration steps.

For more information, see "Connect to Cloud-Based Data".

Connect to Walled Garden Data

LiveRamp Clean Room interoperates with walled garden clean room environments for increased efficiency and scale. Industry clean room partners include Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC), Facebook Advanced Analytics, and Google Ads Data Hub (ADH). See below for information on how to connect your industry clean room.

For more information, see "Connect to Walled Garden Data".
