View Estimated Reach Stats

Estimated reach stats provide information on estimated device reach for a particular field or segment. These stats represent the projected number of devices LiveRamp estimates can be targeted, either across all platforms or at a specific platform.

These stats are displayed on the following pages:

  • The Audience Segments page displays overall and platform-specific device reach estimates for the fields and derived segments within a particular first-party audience. These stats typically take up to two weeks to populate after an uploaded file has been successfully ingested.

  • The Data Marketplace Segments page displays overall and platform-specific device reach estimates for Data Marketplace segments.

Note

The Segments page (for Customer Profiles customers) also displays overall and platform-specific device reach estimates for combination segments during and after the segment building process. The stats on this page are calculated differently from our other estimated reach stats, and do not have the same limitations. See “Build a Combination Segment with Customer Profiles” for more information on viewing these stats.

You can use these stats to gain insight into LiveRamp’s estimated reach at a destination platform for individual fields or entire files before distribution.

Note

There are two scenarios where estimated reach might not generate for a segment:

  • The first scenario is if the segment does not meet the minimum size requirement for estimated reach at a particular advertising platform. This means that there are not enough records associated with the segment to generate estimated reach at the advertising platform. Under this scenario, LiveRamp will display the “Too few to estimate”.

  • The second scenario is real time estimates are not available for the particular segment-destination pair. This means that the advertising platform where you’re distributing segments does not allow LiveRamp to estimate reach. Under this scenario, LiveRamp will display Counts Unavailable.

Information on Estimated Reach Stats

Estimated reach stats provide sampling-based estimates of the number of LiveRamp cookies and mobile device IDs the members of that segment match to. The platform-specific estimates provide sampling-based estimates of the overlap between the overall segment estimate and the cookie pool for the selected destination.

Because these estimates are sampling based, each estimate’s margin of error depends on a number of factors, including the ratio of the segment size to the size of the data seller’s audience that contains the segment. The margin of error also varies, and can be up to 30%.

Note

In some instances, reach estimates might not be enabled for a particular first-party data audience or a data seller’s audience. While enabled by default, reach estimates might be disabled in some cases to accommodate massive audience sizes.

View Estimated Reach Stats on the Audience Segments Page

You can view platform-specific device reach estimates for the fields and derived segments within a particular first-party audience on the Audience Segments page.

Caution

Platform-specific device reach estimates are sampling-based estimates of the overlap between the overall field or derived segment estimate and the cookie pool for the selected destination. Because these estimates are sampling based, each estimate’s margin of error depends on a number of factors, including the ratio of the segment size to the size of the audience that contains the field or derived segment. The margin of error also varies, and can be up to 30%.

Note

  • The way LiveRamp calculates device stats may differ from how your destination platform calculates the same stats, and Connect might show higher or lower device counts for a given segment. For more information, see "Why LiveRamp's Stats Might Differ From Your Destination's Stats".

  • For actively distributing fields and segments (including derived segments), you can also view matched reach stats. See "" for more information.

  1. From the Connect navigation menu, hover over Audiences and then select the desired audience to navigate to the Audience Segments page for that audience.

  2. Hover over the row for the field or derived segment and click the View button that appears.

  3. From the side panel that appears, select the desired destination platform from the drop-down list in the Distribution Information area.

The estimated reach for that destination platform appears.

    Note

If the field or derived segment does not meet the minimum size requirement for a reliable estimate, "too few to estimate" will appear.

  4. To view estimated reach for additional destination platforms, select them from the dropdown.

View Estimated Reach Stats on the Data Marketplace Segments Page

You can view overall and platform-specific device reach estimates for Data Marketplace segments on the Data Marketplace Segments page.

Caution

The values in the Cookie, iOS, and Android Reach columns provide sampling-based estimates of the number of LiveRamp cookies and mobile device IDs the members of that Data Marketplace segment match to. In the Reach tab area of the Segment Details panel, the destination estimated cookie reach stats provide sampling-based estimates of the overlap between the overall segment estimate and the cookie pool for the selected destination.

Because these estimates are sampling based, each estimate’s margin of error depends on a number of factors, including the ratio of the segment size to the size of the audience that contains the field or derived segment. The margin of error also varies, and can be up to 30%.

Note

If the Cookie, iOS, and Android Reach columns on the Data Marketplace Segments page (and in the Segment Details panel) are empty, the estimates are still being calculated for the segment's values. This can happen if the data seller recently uploaded the segment data. Depending on a number of factors, populating the reach estimates can take up to two weeks after upload.

  1. From the Data Marketplace navigation menu, click Buy Data to navigate to the Data Marketplace Segments page, or click the Buy Data tile from the Welcome page.

The Data Marketplace Segments table displays overall estimated reach for each segment:

    • Cookie reach: The overall LiveRamp cookies estimated reach (estimated cookie reach varies by platform)

    • iOS device reach: The overall iOS device estimated reach (mobile estimates are consistent across all platforms).

    • Android device reach: The overall Android device estimated reach (mobile estimates are consistent across all platforms).

  2. To estimated cookie reach by platform, click the row for the segment you want to view stats for.

  3. Select the REACH tab.

Estimated cookie reach is displayed in the Reach by Platform area. Scroll to find the desired platform, or use the search bar to narrow the list.

    Tip

Because of the large potential margin of error of these estimates, to get more accurate estimates we recommend distributing the segments you're evaluating to your desired destination platform(s) and waiting for the reach numbers in the platform to populate.

Because you aren't charged for Data Marketplace segments until you activate them, there is no cost to distribute the segments. Once you determine which segments you want to activate, remove the remaining segments from distribution.
